Devem-se coletar aproximadamente 15 mL de líquor, dependendo dos exames realizados. Uma análise padrão deve ser feita em todo material coletado: Contagem de células global e diferenciada, glicose (comparar com a sérica), proteínas, gram e cultura. Dependendo da indicação do procedimento, outras análises devem ser solicitadas.
